My name is Dan M. I created this deck to have no real weaknesses. I have just finished playing in the first DCI sanctioned tournament in the USA (At least that's what the officials told us). This tournament was held at the Gathering Grounds in Missouri. I finished in 5th place out of 32. NOTE: the format of this tournament was very odd. Each round consisted of only one game. It was sort of sudden death. Well, here goes the deck: Energy: 12 Psychic energy 12 Fighting energy 4 Double Colorless Energy Pokemon: 4 Jynx-Great beefy creature to stop fighting 2 Mewtwo-to kill creatures with lots of energy like Blastoise 4 Hitmonchan-huge electric killer 1 Machop-almost as good as hitmonchan 1 Onix-bigtime staller 2 Chansey-This pokemon ROCKS! He takes out 2 pokemon by himself with 2 double edges 4 Farfetch'd-This is the most solid basic in the game. Nothing resists him, and he can deal 30 damage on the first turn. Trainers: 3 Bill-gotta have card-drawing 2 Professor Oaks-More card-drawing 4 Energy Removal-an absolute must for stopping big attacks 2 Super Energy Removal-for even bigger threats 3 Potions-to regenerate creatures In the first round, I played a kid with a mono green deck. I brought out Farfetch'd and single-handedly killed a Nidoran, a bulbasaur, a Rattata and a Venusaur!!! No energy really hurt that kid. In the second round, I played the winners girlfriend. She played a fire/electric deck. It was very good, but she was forced to stall the game with Zapdos, giving me time to build up Chansey and Jynx. One Chansey and a Jynx took out four of her pokemon! In the third round, I played one of two brothers in the tournament. He was playing a fighting/colorless deck. He played a lot of machop and Rattata. However, in the end, my Jynx took care of his fighting stuff and Chansey won the end game again. In the fourth round I suffered my first loss. The eventual winner, a guy named Tyler, who incidently is a real nice guy and has an amazing collection of cards, was playing Fighting/colorless, much like my deck. I drew a bad hand and couldn't get the right kind of energy. He mowed me down pretty quickly. In the fifth round, a win would send me to the top 8. I played a guy with a grass/fire deck. I had a really slow start, but eventually my Jynx did a number on his nidoran/nidorino's(weak to Psychic). I had now made it to the top 8 in my second tournament ever. I played this kid who's mom had bought him tons of cards. He kept mixing his prizes and hand up. I think he was trying to cheat, but anyway.... He was playing a mono electric deck. I killed his Pikachu on the first turn with a Hitmonchan. But he controlled the rest of the game with a fully loaded Zapdos. In the end, I got two free packs. I was the only person in the tournament playing Psychic!! Not many people expected Psychic, so my deck was pretty effective. The only thing I can tell other players who are going to play in tournaments soon is: Most players play eaither fighting and/or electric. If you build a deck that can stop these two colors, you're going to do very well. Well, this is Dan M. signing off......
