Hey what's up Pojo? I attended a tournament in Alta Loma, California,
November 29th at M&W Cards and Gems. It is DCI sactioned. I have been
using
a potpourri deck for 2 weeks now and I came in second 3 times. The last
tournament I got whooped because every time it was always my Hitmonchan vs.
someone's Scyther. I decided to add in the cheapest scyther killer around
fossil Magmar. Anyway heres the deck.
3 scyther ( most versatile starter )
3 magmar ( fossil ) Cheap attacks good Scyther killer )
3 electabuzz ( Great attacks for low energy cost )
3 Mr. mime ( I have a great hay-breaker combo with Mr.mime and scyther. Most
hay pokemon have 70 HP. Slash with Scyther, next turn bring out Mr. mime for
the mediate and KO )

Now the report
Round 1 Vs Tina: She was the only girl there, and a newbie,
so I didn't
know what to expect. I started with a scyther active, with a Mr. mime and
Buzz in my hand. I got the flip and it was my Scyther Vs her Geodude. In my
hand a had a plus power, lightning energy, D.C.E, a Computer search, Buzz who
I decided not to put down because of her fighting pokemon. I put an electric
an energy on scyther and passed. She put a fighting on geodude and passed.
I
killed Geodude in one shot because of weakness. She cussed loudly because she
forgot about the weakness. She now had mahcop active, and didn't bother to
put an energy on. I put down a Plus Power and searched for another for the
win.
Record 1- 0
Round 2 vs Brandon.
I play this guy every time and I always lose because he gets lucky and I get
bad draws. He plays a haymaker with out hitmonchan and uses gastly haunter
and gengar! Wierd. Anyway, we start I go first. My only basic is a
Magmar,
but i only have a hand full of trainers. I go first. I bill twice. No
energy. I get scyther though. I then Oak. I get out 1 fire energy and smoke
screen his scyther for 20. He also has a fossil Gastly on the bench. He
removes my only fire energy. and hits me for 30 with heads on smoke screen.
My turn I graw a gust, play a psychic on scyther and use lass because i saw
the plus power in his hand as he was drawing. I hit a Lass and Super
energy
removal. I through away my whole hand. I pass. Well, the game goes on and
he
energy removals all my energy and slowy beats me with Buzz and Gengars curse.
Oh well. I can still get second.
Record 1-1
Round 3 vs Joe
Joe is Tinas brother. He says he will beat me for her. I know his deck good.
I've played him four times in the past 2 weeks and he hasnt changed his all
psychic deck sense. I go first ( wow 3 times in a row ). I have
scyther
active magmar and buzz on the bench. He has abra active and lickitung on
the
bench. I retreat for magmar and search for an Oak, Drop a plus power, oak,
bill, bill, and a get another plus power. KO. He sends out Lickitung and
drops an abra on the bench. Wrap and paralize. I draw an electric energy
and
put it on buzz and pass. He put s a psy energy on Abra and evoles into
Kadabra. He toung wraps and paralize. I draw a plus power and scoop
up
magmar, drop an enery on buzz and send him out. I Thunder Punch him for
40.
He goes puts a D.C.E on abra and hits me for 10 but no paralize. I draw an
electric energy and put it on scyther. I play Plus Power and heads. I kill
Tung.
He gets kadabra uses super psy and knocks out buzz. I send out scyther draw a
double colorless play it and slash. He uses recover for the next 5 turns then
he gets an Energy removal and removes the D.C.E and finally uses Super Psy
with 3 damage on him. Bad Move Joey. I have another D.C.E sitting in my
hand
and slash for the win.
Record 2-1. Still in running for second!!
Round 4 vs. Ceaser.
I start with Buzz active and him fossil magmar. He goes first and has no fire
energy. Passes. I play a lighning on Buzz and 10 and paralize. He draws and
gets a fire. Passes. I play scyther, remove his only fire energy for the game
and Thuner Punch Magmar. Tails he has 30 left. He draws gets no basic. No
potions, searches, bills or oaks. My turn. Thunder punch. Tails, but i still
win.
Record 3-1 WooHoo! If I win again I get second!
Final Round vs The Local Cheater ( no names mentioned :) )
First off this guy is famous for cheating. He looks at his prizes when he
thinks I'm not lookin and I say sometin about it and he denies it. Judge
can't do anything vause I have no proof. Grrr. We play ( He copies other
peoples decks.) See Brandon from round 2. They have the same deck. Or
maybe
they are friends or something but who cares. We play for a while, he
continues to cheat dropping extra energy on. Ok I wouldve won the game but
read this I have 1 prize left. His Buzz has 30 on him his promo mewtwo has 30
on him his fossil gastlys have 20 and 40 on them. whoever he sent out i could
kill with my Mr. mime on the bench. His turn he retreats for mewtwo, gust out
Mime and says "Dead" i point out his pokemon power, he says that he
has to
have a turn to charge up as active to use his P.P I call a judge knowing Im
right and the judge says he's right.!!!!!!! So word of the judge goes and
he
picks up the last prize and beats me.
Records for tournament 3-2
I got cheated out of second. My rare card was a first edition Dugtrio!!
I am happy to find out that the other guy who tied for second did not go 4-1,
he went 4 wins and a tie so he got all second place money for himself!!
Justice prevails.
