Hello, sorry, last e-mail forgot to list my deck :)

I competed in a Pokemon tournament at Pheonix Rising, 324 St. Paul, in St. Catharines, ON in Canada. The tournament had about
24 players, and was divided into 3 divisions, the winner of each division plays off in the end, and each player must play each
person in their division.

I was put in Division 1, the hardest division. There were 6 others in my division.

General comments/suggestions on my deck : This deck uses hitmonchan, I have played it without them, and its still great.  If alot of people use scyther and aerodactyl or alot of pokemon with fighting resistance, switch the 3 hitmons for 3 fossil magmars, and replace the 9 fighting energy with 9 fire energy, that's it :)   I earlier had 4 fossils and 3 aerodactyls, but I found that the extra + power and the extra gust helps out more.   If there's ALOT of raindance and evolving decks where you play, switch out one plus power and one gust of wind and put in one more mysterious fossil and another aerodactyl.

9 basic is cutting it close, I drew no basic a few times too much, but there's no other choice, adding more basics takes out important trainers which is what wins the game :)

Gameplay : If you have a scyther, start with it, unless you have a really good reason not to.  If the opponent doesn't play fighting, make sure to use pokemon trader to get an electabuzz, they are THE greatest basic in the entire game.  1 energy gets you 10 + chance to paralyze, and for 2 you can do up to 40 damage.   If Buzz gets beat, have another ready and scoop the beaten one up with scoop up..  THat's about it, its pretty much just beat on their pokemon without letting yours get taken down.

Here's the report : (Sorry its hazy, I forgot to take some notes + my memory is terrible)

Game 1 vs. Lee

I was up against a raindance I think, I didn't get to see much of it.  He started with Squirtle, I had Scyther and Electabuzz.  I shocked with buzz for 20, and didn't paralyze, he bubbled and didn't paralyze, I knocked it out next turn.
Record 1 - 0

Game 2 vs. Little Kid

Another kid with a water deck. He had squirtle, and I had buzz and scyth again.  I dominated his Squirtle and he evolved, put down a few more basic, it was over before it started, his wartortle got hit for 80 damage by buzz's punch
Record 2 - 0

Game 3 vs. Paul (one of the harder matches) with a green deck

I started with hitmon, he had a couple pincirs.  He got to go first, I jabbed for 20.  Then he irongriped and paralyzed me.  Next turn I put a few basics down, a buzz and a scy.  He slapped a dce on his pincir and guillotined for 50, knocked out hitmon.  I was on the rebound, a few heads for me with buzz and his pincir was toast.  I energy removaled a few energies from him, put some on my pokemon, and about 3 turns later after an oak and a heads for gambler, I was back in action.  He had about 3 dragonairs with no energy, and hitmonchan special punched them out.  I won by drawing prizes.
Record 3 - 0

Game 4 vs. ??? New guy?

This guy was playing alot of birds and farfetch'd. He started with farfetch'd and a few doduos on the bench.  I had hitmon and a scyther which were of no use.  I traded for a buzz, and starting demolishing his birds.  Don't remember much here, each turn I'd zap another bird until I drew 6 prizes.
Record 4 - 0

Game 5 vs. James? (colorless deck)

This guy had a total colorless deck.  He started out with rattata and a dratini.  I got a buzz and a fossil.  I shocked a few times, by which he had bitten me a few times.  I brought aerodactyl out and got a hitmonchan out on the bench.  I scooped up the buzz and let hitmon deal damage out.  I knocked his rattata out, and all he had was lickitungs left, a few turns later, they were knocked out.
Another game won.
Record 5 - 0

Game 6 vs. Dap (only match that I could have lost)

Dap was playing a mono psychic deck with gastly, mimes and jynxes.  He started with Jynx, and I had a buzz. He rolled 2 tails for double slap two turns in a row.  Buzz had Jynx down to about 20 health.  He meditated for 20, and I punched him for the kill and took 10 damage for rolling heads.  I had a scyther out on the bench.  He had a mime and gastlies.  His gastlys did 10 and paralyzed a few turns, but scyther and buzz kept going, dealing out damage.  In the end he oaked on purpose with only a few cards left, he had too many prizes left to win. I won since he decked himself out.
Record 6 - 0

At this point, it was over for our division.  Dap had 2 losses and Paul had 2 also, I went undefeated this time.

I had to face off against the Winner of Division 3 , the Division 2 winner got a bye.

Finals Game 1 vs. ????? (playing a mono grass deck)

I went first, he has ekans and nidoran males.  I had buzz and scythers.  I shocked him a few times, he ended up evolving to arbok and poisoning me.  I got a hitmonchan out and pumped him up.  Buzz died after it knocked out the arbok.  I drew fossils and an aerodactyl, and brought him out in a few turns.  By then, I was just special punching all his pokemon, one after another.  He wasn't drawing energy, and I beat him not soon after.

One more game.

Finals Game 2 vs. ???? (playing raindance)

He went first.  He had squirtles out and a magikarp.  I had a buzz and scyther.  He bubbled, rolled tails. I shocked squirtle for 20, he rolled tails for paralyzing me, then he evolved his karp into gyarados and his squirtle into wartortle.  I knocked out wartortle and brought out a hitmonchan.  He pumped up gyarados, but it was too late.  by the time he had 2 energy on it, I supered it and just kept beating gyarados.  He put out a few more basic as a last attempt to stall, but it wasn't enough.  I won a few turns later.

I came first place overall, undefeated with my new haymaker.

I got a credit for two packs of fossil? when the store gets them in.

My hopes are that I can find a good DCI sanctioned pokemon tourney so that I can get a ranking finally, there's lots of great players, but with no DCI tourneys its impossible to get ranked.

Props to Dap for not playing his Articuno deck
Props to Paul for beating Dap

Slops to Colin for not coming to this tourney

That's it, the next report will have better details, I was in a rush and forgot some paper to write stuff down.
