Hey pojo! I havent played pokemon in quite some time, so I needed to see
what some of the decks are being used. As usual, haymaker and raindance
variants are at large, so I made a deck that beats them. Of course, if it
only beat these type of decks, how would it beat other popular decks like
damage swap? So I took all these strategies and made a deck that can hold
its own:

ENERGY-21
10-Psychic
7 -Grass
4 -Double Colorless

POKEMON-14
4-Scyther (hitmons)
4-Mr. Mime (rain dance)
4-Farfetch'd (an old favorite)
2-Tauros (pretty good against electabuzz)

TRAINERS-25
4-Energy Search (makes up for the low energy)
4-Energy Removal
4-Bill
2-Professor Oak
4-Plus Power
4-Potion
2-Gust of Wind
1-Scoop Up

The tournament was held at Collector's Den, Pittsburgh PA. It took place on
Nov. 13 at about 1:00. It was single elimination, one match per round.
15 people arrived, mostly 10 and under.

Round
1------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was the lucky person who got a bye...

Round
2------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dave, who was playing a traditional haymaker with dittos.
My opening hand was a scyther, tauros, energy removal, potion, grass
energy, psychic energy, and an oak. He put out a hitmonchan and a buzz on
the bench. I won the flip so i layed a grass on scyther and used swords
dance. He plays a scoop up on chan and replays it on his bench. After
laying a electric energy on buzz, he uses thundershock. heads. My turn i
draw a plus power and lay a psy energy on tauros. He goes, playing a
fighting energy on electabuzz and uses a thunderpunch- tails. I draw a bill
and use it to get a dce and a grass. I play a dce on scyther and potion
him. Then i use a slash. He goes and puts an energy on chan and uses a
thunderpunch on scyther- heads. I draw and get a scoop up. I lay a grass on
tauros, use scoop up on scyther, and replay him. I play a plus power on
tauros and kill his buzz. Hitmon goes out and eventually kills my tauros.
Scyther goes in, and due to the fact he has no other monsters,I win with
scyther.

Round3----------------------------------------------------------------------
---
Against my friend Mike, who plays a RAIN DANCE.
My only monster is scyther, and he has a squirtle out with a 'cuno on the
bench. He goes first and..... uses bubble- tails. I draw a bill and use it
to get Mr. mime and a pluspower. I play mime and retreat scyther for free.
I put a
psy energy on Mr. Mime and he goes. He mustve drawn a breeder or something,
cause he started grinning. He plays a Breeder and makes his lowly squirtle
into a hulking blastoise. This is where it gets funny- He fully charges up
his blastoise with energy and then plays an oak. He puts a magiKRAP on the
bench and charges up his Articuno. He annonces he is using hydro pump, and
his smile turns into a frown when i tell him Mr. Mime has invisible
barrier. He loses this game pretty quickly.

Round4----------------------------------------------------------------------
---
Against Ken, the owner playing muk/aerodactyl combo deck.
This was the second time i got into a finals in a pokemon tournament. I
started out with a mime out and a fetch on the bench. He had a grimer out
and a mystyrious fossil on the bench. I go first and play an energy search
to get a psy energy. Knowing fully well that 'dactyl would shut down mr.
mime, i gusted it out. I took my chanses and scooped up mr. mime and
replaying him. I layed a grass on fetch and crossed my fingers-heads! His
lone grimer was all he had out, and on the 4th turn i killed it with Mr. mime.

YES! I WON!!!

ok, i got 4 fossil boosters . not bad for no entry fee.
