NAME: Yoshi007
TOURNAMENT: Pokemon TCG League
LOCATION: Toys R Us of Saginaw, Michigan
DATE(S): November 14, 1999

I made a new deck over the weekend, called "Millenium Haymaker". Of course, I
got this idea from others, but I tweeked it a little to give it full attack
power. And that's what happened during the November 14 tournament at Toys R
Us.

DECK:

4 Hitmonchan
4 Electabuzz
3 Mr. Mime
3 Scyther
3 Jigglypuff
2 Wigglytuff

3 Bill
3 Energy Removal
2 Potion
2 Energy Retreival
2 Energy Search
2 Gust of Wind
1 Super Energy Removal
1 Item Finder

8 Fighting Energy
7 Psychic Energy
7 Lightning Energy
3 Double Colorless Energy

Round 1: This person has a Mono-Fighting Deck, so I waited patiently for a
Scyther to appear in later rounds. I held off most of his Pokemon with a Mr.
Mime that destroyed two of his Pokemon, but was knocked out by two Jabs from
Hitmonchan. I was stuck with Wigglytuff, who was weak to fighting. Then, I
drew my card and Scyther it was! I attacked a double-colorless to him,
resisting Hitmonchan's Special Punch down to 10 damage, and then finally
attached another energy to Scyther. I had worn down all of his Pokemon,
including Hitmonlee, Rhyhorn, and Machop. I had won the match.
Record: 1-0

Round 2: This kid had a Fighting/Psychic Deck that he stated was currently
with one loss ever. I sorta fret, since Mr. Mime and Hitmonchan are weak to
Psychic and that Electabuzz, Jigglypuff, and Wigglytuff were weak to
Fighting, leaving the job to Scyther once again. He started with a Fossil
Haunter which wreaked havoc over Mr. Mime and Hitmonchan. I brought out
Wigglytuff, who was resistant to Psychic and attempted to Do the Wave for a
total of 50 damage. He flipped for the damage or not (due to Transparency)
and it was tails, so Haunter was finally gone. After that, it was retreating
time, so whenever he brought out the wrong Pokemon, I would retreat and put
out the perfect solution. That worked. The game was tied at 2 prizes left. My
Electabuzz had him reeling with lucky heads with Special Punch, knocking off
his Machoke before he could put 3 energies on him. When my opponent brought
out Machop, I retreated Electabuzz (the 2 energies are worth it at this
point), promoted Scyther and cooked Machop for Breakfast. My opponent now has
2 losses.
Record: 2-0

Round 3: I faced a newbie next. His deck was almost like the Starter Set's
Deck, but there were changes. All he could draw were Diglett for the first 5
turns, but all I had was an Electabuzz (Diglett is resistant to Lightning).
So I only had chances to do 10 damage, and Diglett was able to do 60 on me. I
drew a Scyther and Mr. Mime just before Electabuzz was knocked out, but
un-luckily for me he drew a Dugtrio, and now had 3 fighting energy on him. I
promoted Scyther into the ring and Slashed for 60. He Slashed, too, but only
did 10 to me due to resistance. His Dugtrio was soon gone. The rest of the
Pokemon were Charmander or Charmeleon, and my Mr. Mime took care of those,
thanks to Gusts of Wind to bring out un-built up Pokemon. I won the match
with my opponent only drawing one prize.
Record: 3-0

Round 4: In this round, I won cheaply, since this kid set up his deck before
the match, he didn't even shuffle, and got Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard
and 4 Fire Energies. I insisted to look in his deck, and I did, finding the
next 5 cards were fire energies, along with other Pokemon with their rightful
energies right next to them. I told the Gym Leader about it, but he then
shuffled his deck fairly and we battled it out. He quickly got Charizard, but
just couldn't get the right energy for him. I knocked it out thanks to energy
removals whenever he got a Fighting Energy. After that, he had no more basics.
Record: 4-0

Round 5: This kid also had a Haymaker deck, in which he copied from the book.
I destroyed 3 Machops and 2 Hitmonchans very quickly with Mr. Mime, and then
finished off a Scyther with Electabuzz. He didn't draw a single prize, and he
called me "Master" at the end. He then went to tell his buds about my deck,
and that's where Round 6 came along.. a challenge from the person that was
undefeated in the group - 32-0.
Record: 5-0

Round 6: This was the match against my opponent that was 32-0 with his deck.
I was certain he faced challengers that were either newbies or that can't
build decks worth beans, because this match was fairly easy. We started with
Hitmonchan vs. Hitmonchan. Luckily, I was able to build up Hitmonchan faster,
so I could Special Punch on my third turn (I jabbed the second) to put his
Hitmonchan down to 10 HP. He did the same on his next turn, but I used Potion
to heal Hitmonchan at 30 HP. I then knocked out his Hitmonchan. He then
brought out Butterfree in which he built up on his bench and put the third
leaf energy on him and proceeded to Energy Removal me twice. I put out
Scyther after the Whirlwind, and used Energy Search for a Fighting Energy. I
then put a double colorless on Scyther that I had before and slash Butterfree
for 30 damage. I had to once again switch in a different Pokemon. I had no
choice but Hitmonchan. I retreated him for 2 energy (In which I used Energy
Retrieval for) and put in Scyther to destroy Butterfree. He then had no more
basics in his hand, so I won. He congratulated me (tough competitor, but
great sportsmanship).
Record: 6-0
