Winona Minnesota is a pretty small town, only having 2 stores
that sell pokemon cards.  But  'Jimmy Jams', a comic store held 2
tournaments in the past few months...  I won both so I figured my decks
    must be worth SOMETHING?!!

Any way . . . The game was played in a sudden death type
style, using only 6 basic pokemon.  Though I used my deck in that
situation to win I've used it in the traditional style and found it fairs
less than likeable results....  Beware!!  (unless you play by
    death rules)

Our set up had about 20 participants.... I being the
    oldest / only girl ^_^

    My deck contained the following:

    (all basic / Jungle)

    Pokemon:

        1 Meowth

        1 Sperow

        1 Chancy

        1 Ponyta

        2 Eevees

        3 Persians

        3 Fearows

        3 Rapidash

        2 Flareon

        2 Jolteon

    Trainers:

        3 Gust of winds

        1 Defender

        3 Potions

        2 Super potions

        4 Pokeballs

        2 Revive

    Energy cards:

        16 Fire

        8 Electric

        2 Double Colorless

The point of this deck is sneaky... While
everyone is building up their Charizards/Venasaurs these little speed demons
are dealing damage little by little.  The pokemon all have colorless
attacks so the energy type isn't important.

        If the opponent does do
damage to these pokemon the second great part of this deck goes into
action.... Free or 1 energy retreat!!  Fearow ganna faint, put in Eevee.

I had to fight about 8 people during
the tournament and came out with a 7-1 record.

        1st:

The first kid I went up against used a bunch
of physic pokemon like Mr. Mime and Allakazam.  The match was over
pretty quick switching between Fearow and Persian.  Pokemon 0-6

        2nd:

This guy was the older brother of the first
kid I went up against.  His Pokemon line up was both Fire and Electric.
This match was a little more tricky since I couldn't use Fearow against his
most powerful pokemon,  Zapdos.  I ended up using Chancy's double
edge and scrunch with potions for most of the match.... What a pain.
    Pokemon 0-6

        3rd:

This was my easy match.  The kid just
didn't grasp the rules of the game very well, having 7 of some pokemon.
    He was disqualified.  Pokemon 0-6

        4th:

This match was more close, and was the first
time I lost a pokemon.  The guy used Electric and Grass pokemon.
His Butterfree was a real pain.  It was wasting my Chancy and Jolteon
until I got a gust of wind.  and switched out his Venasaur.  He
never got enough energy for retreat cost and Venasaur was history.
Still he did manage to put down my Chancy before I finished his last pokemon,
Jolteon, with my Persian.  Pokemon 1-6

        5th:

This was one of those guys who loved to use
cheep shots *GRRRRR*  He used 4 Jigglypuffs / Wigglytuffs.
Starting out against a Wigglytuff is not pleasant in sudden death style
because its do the wave attack dose 60 damage right away....  It was a
great colorless VS colorless type fight.  He had a Farfech'd and
Dragonair for back up and got in some great plays.  Pokemon 4-6

        6th:

I got a freebie caus of the odd number of
    people  (21 I think)

        7th:

A semi-final fight against a kids Water and
Fighting deck.  It was a cool game and I was on the loosing end of the
fight for the first 3 pokemon... His Fighters were taking a toll on Eevee
and Persian.  I used Rapidash for the first time of the day and got the
fighter off my back, only to have it replaced with a water type!  It
was a lot of retreating on my part before I could turn the tables using my
Flareon and Jolteon.  This was the boy who received 3rd place I think
    Pokemon 4-6

        8th:

A 2 round match against my 5th round opponent
    and his %#$@ Wigglytuffs.

The first round was nerve racking as he
continually put me to sleep with those Wigglys... The other pokemon weren't
    a problem but .... I HATE WIGGLYS !!!  I managed
to finally use little Eevee to knock out 1 of those cursed beasts, but it
was too late in the game and I lost my first time.  Pokemon 6-2

The second round was the deciding one and it
was hilarious and scary all at the same time.  He once again opened
with one of his Wigglys as I opened with Flareon...  The game was going
all great and serious when it happened.... He brought out Farfech'd and
needed a coin flip.  The coin flipped all right .... right down my
uniform's shirt!!!  (when you wear your Team Rocket uniform strange
things happen all the time in public)  Needless to say with a room full
of guys it took a while for the snickering to die down before he re-flipped
    (with a different coin)....

The game went on until turn 58  He had 2
cards in his draw pile while I had only had 1 card left.  We were both
down to 1 pokemon.  His last Wiggly and my Jolteon.  I needed 3 of
4 coin flips heads to win.  The first two were heads, but the third
tails.  I figured I was sunk but thank lord the last flip turned out to
be heads...  Talk about pressure !!!  He took home 2nd.  Pokemon
    5-6

    I've played this
same deck again since then (and ended up against the same guy four first
place)  and I've come to believe it must be a good deck for all those
Charizard haters out there who want to kick some poke'butt !!!!

    Hope ya enjoyed my little rant;
