Greetings folks!  I was away for 2 weeks due to my computer crashing on me :(  But now I'm back, the last 2 tourneys that I didn't report on went something like this, I placed a healthy second place on the 1st one and an even better first place finish on the one after that.  But that's in the past now and now its time for this week, this week I'm testing out my own variant of Potpourri, which I call Hot Jalapeno Potpourri.  You can probably guess I added Fire Pokemon, the new Fossil Magmar to be exact.  Here's the deck and I'll explain my decisions afterwards.

    Hot Jalapeno Potpourri

    Energy: 22

    7 Fire
    6 Lighting
    6 Psychic
    3 Double Colorless

    Pokemon: 13

    3 Fossil Magmar
    3 Electabuzz
    3 Mr. Mime
    3 Scyther
    1 Chansey

    Trainers: 25

    3 Bill
    3 Professor Oak
    3 Gust of Wind
    3 Super Energy Removal
    2 Energy Removal
    2 Plus Power
    1 Energy Retrieval
    2 Energy Search
    2 Item Finder
    3 Scoop Up
    1 Computer Search

Now for why I made the deck the way it is...

The Energy, it may seem a bit low but the Energy Retrieval and Search help make up for it.

The Pokemon, In this deck I have added 2 new Pokemon, Chansey and Fossil Magmar, Fossil Magmar is simply amazing, his attacks are cheap, 1 retreat, and the best Scyther killer right now.  But you may be wondering why Hitmonchan is out, this is in the experimental stage still, Electabuzz may go if I think its better, but having 2 guys who need 2 Fire or 2 Fighting/1 Colorless is too much,  so I went with Magmar and Electabuzz, besides around here a lot of people use Scyther or some other Fighting resistant Pokemon.

The Trainers, Not much change here other then the Energy Searches, I may swap out 1 for another Bill.

That was the basics reason behind my deck, it is still undergoing a series of changes, but that is the base of how my deck looks like for now...

Now for the tournament,  I was almost late this week I made just when there were setting up the rounds, my friend Alex was also almost late...It was a close one.  It was a good thing I made since there were 16 people there which is the second highest turnout for Deja Vu tourneys.  *Blows into a bent and twisted trumpet*

Round 1-VS Jon U. with Haymaker

Haymaker, but not that good of a haymaker, he ran with the standard Scyther, Buzz and Chan, but no Energy Removals just a bunch of Potions and Super Potions.  We both opened with Scythers and I had a Magmar on the bench, him a Electabuzz, this guy is not a good player at all and has to faith in him self, he says he will lose for sure so he Oaks, then Oaks again, 2 Bills, Item Finder and Oaks again, Oaks again, Bills again, Comp. Search and Bills for that last time.  By now he has about 5-6 cards left, I'm not counting...:)  Couple turns later I win.

    Record: 1-0
    3 Points

Round 2-VS  Bogart G. with Grass

Easy match, Magmar tore through a line of energyless Pinsirs and Scythers, by now the prizes are 3 for me and 6 for him, he danced around with his Scythers for a while but Gust of Wind caught up to him and finished off a Bulbasaur, Scyther and Pinsir.  I win in about 20 turns only losing a one Magmar.

    Record: 2-0
    6 Points

    Round 3-VS John N. with a Grass

Again another easy match, not as easy as Bogart's deck since this one has some strategy behind it.  Exeggutor beat down, to bad Mr. Mime just kills this deck along with Magmar to cripple his Grass Pokemon before powered up.  Magmar starts the game with wiping out a Exeggcute and Bulbasaur, then a Pinsir.  By now his Exeggutor is pumped, he is able to take out my Magmar, but another fills up its spot Smoging it and poisoning he is forced to use switch and attempt a short Scyther stall, I make quick work of a Bulbasaur that a gust out instead.  Im at 2 prizes now and he's at 4, I have a Mr. Mime ready to finish off game and a Magmar to fight that Scyther quicker, he sends out Scyther retreats and tries to kill my Magmar, he doesn't succeed, only dealing 60 to keep Magmar alive, I gust out Scyther and Smog him knowing now that Mr. Mime can kill both of his remaining Pokemon in one hit and even if he gets another I have another Gust of Wind and a Item Finder, he finishes my Magmar off with a slash from Scyther and my Mr. Mime kills his Scyther and then his Exeggutor for the win.

    Record: 3-0
    9 Points

Round 4-VS Mike S. with Potpourri Variant

He is playing the version with less removal for switches and potions, Although a worthy deck to play, this new version of Potpourri proved better then I thought I got all my prizes while he was only able to get 2, again Magmar made the whole difference, helping out against those pesky Scythers on the most part and poisoning at key parts of the game.  And with no Hitmo's in my deck his Scyther weren't playing a major role while my Scythers were gusting out Hitmo's and beating them down, I win easier then I would have expected.

    Record: 4-0
    12 Points

    Round 5-VS Dinh N. with Fire/Fighting

Bad hand on my part a Scyther, but lucky for me he went with an active Machop and the slow Growlithe on the bench, I removed growlithe while he kept removing my Scyther.  Eventually I got Oak, and got a Mr. Mime, Chansey and Electabuzz, I scooped scyther up and sent my Mr. Mime after his Machop.  Mr. Mime made quick work of Machop.  His Growlithe finished my Mime though, by now my Chansey was pumped for Dbl. Edge, I activate him a Dbl. Edge to of his Pokemon a Growlithe and Charmander.  He catches up in prizes and sometime later we are tied at 2-2 prizes.  My deck is at about 12 cards, so I have to play smart and fast to get my last to prizes, I have Electabuzz out at the moment and him a Ponyta that he sent out to stall while pumping his Chameleon this is a bad move since I have 2 prizes left.  I kill his Ponyta with a good roll of a die and then his Chameleon comes out and flamethrower for 50, I scoop Buzz and promote my Mr. Mime.  SER the Chameleon so it cant swap with energyless Charmander and meditate, he goes and puts an energy one Charmander, I know he is planning to retreat and send out his Charmander, so once again I remove another energy from him.  He goes and is forced to retreat his Chameleon which I gust back out and finish off.

    Record:5-0
    15 Points

That was the end of the tourney, I placed another first receiving 3 Fossil Boosters and 1 Jungle Booster, I got a Aerodactal, Muk, Holo Hypno and a Holo Venomoth.  My friend Alex place 2nd receiving 2 Fossil and 1 Jungle, these were good prizes considering the last 2 tourneys were Jungle Boosters which now are becoming very lame.

If you are wondering how I am doing in the DCI World, well I was a bit surprised when I went to see what it was my self, I'm 11th in the World !!! With a rating of 1915, comparing to a rating of 1705 when Iast checked.  This is really cool I think, I hope wizards has some Top 100 DCI players tournament or something like that some time.  If you don't believe then here is the exact link to the page that displays my name, look for my name, Ryan G Truong, http://events.wizards.com/DCIRanking/results.asp?game=PK&format=PC&geo=1625&page=1

PROPS to Anyone who help me get 11th in the World !!!
PROPS to Deja Vu for having Fossil Boosters as prizes.

SLOPS to Deja Vu for not having any Fossil for sale.

Well that's it for this week, Hopefully my Comp. doesn't crap out on me again so I can get some reports in to win November's report contest, doubtful I'll win twice in a row plus I only have like 2 submissions.
