Hey PoJo, please post this in your Killer Deck Reports...

Since I have been having an above average October, I decided to
stick with the Poor Man's Haymaker, and enter the Halloween tournament. There
was nothing really special about the tournament, except that they would have
double the prize!!! This Halloween tournament was held at Gateway Comics and
More in Erie, Pa on October 20 and had around 25 people. In case you have not
ever read my reports here is the poor man's haymaker...

Pokemon
4 Charmanders
4 Machop
3 Farfetch'd
3 Magmar
3 Rattata

Trainers
4 Bill
4 Energy Removal
4 PlusPower
2 Gust of Wind
2 Professor Oak
1 Energy Retreival
1 Scoop Up

Energy
15 Fire Energy
10 Fighting Energy

Now for the tournament report ( one match per round )....

Round  1 vs. a " Witch Craft "

Well, I guess it was fitting that I play a deck called " Witch Craft " in the
Halloween tournament. The deck was pretty good and it had ghosts (  Gengar
line ) , a black cat ( Persian line ) , and plenty of potions. Well anyway, I
start out with a Charmander and a benched Magmar. He plays Meowth, and
benches Gastly , slaps a double colorless and pay days. Ten damage plus he
drew a card and screamed, " YES ". I wonder what he drew ? ( Gengar)   Anyway
he would eventually get Gengar out on the third turn, I was already ahead by
one prize when this happened ( Farfetch cleaned the kitty ). Gengar comes out
and proceeds to smack Farfetch up pretty good. But by this time I had a fully
pumped Magmar, and he had enough energy on him to clean house and eventually
win this game.

Record 1-0

Round 2 vs. a Poor Man's Haymaker?!?!

I can't believe someone copied me and brought it to the tournament. I knew I
was in for it now. Luckily, I drew Farfetch and Magmar and proceeded to leek
slap his lonely Charmander. HEADS. I am twenty damage away from winning, when
he draws the addition he made to the Poor Man's Haymaker. ELECTRABUZZ....Uh
oh! Well, he kept Charmander out and scratched me twice before retreating in
favor of the pumped Buzz. Of course this makes Farfetch useless in this game,
and he is a big part of this deck. Magmar came in and managed to get rid of
Buzz, but survived with only ten HP left. I needed a pokemon desperatly as he
brought in a Farfetch'd. Leek Slap, if he gets heads he wins and ruins my
great October run. TAILS. I knew listening to "What is God was One of Us"
before I came wasn't that stupid. But still, I needed another pokemon and
fast. I draw an energy removal and buy myself some time and fire punch
Farfetch.  I didn't attack the next two turns, because he had a rattata
waiting on the bench. I still didn't have a pokemon when I draw Bill. I play
him and get an Energy Removal and  Gust of Wind. This game was now mine. I
gust out the Rattata, energy removal on Farfetch, and proceed to fire punch
them both untill he has no more basics.

Record 2-0

Round 3 vs. Mono Fire Deck

I really enjoy playing against fire decks. Beating up on those helpless
Growlithes and Vulpixes really makes me smile 8^).  Well anyway now that
fossil is out I wasn't expecting to get to beat up on these guys, but dealing
with the card I hate....Fossil Magmar. He is against everything my
heavy-hitter Magmar stands for. Well, anyway I start out with Machop and
Rattata and he plays, guess who, Fossil Magmar. He also benches a Ponyta,
which is a mistake. Machop eventually dies but leaves Magmar  with only 30 hp
left. Rattata comes in, is pluspowered, and finishes him off. Ponyta comes is
without any energy. Rattata easily cleans him and leaves my opponent with no
basics.

Record 3-0

Round 4 vs. an Anti - Haymaker. ( fire / psy with bird pokemon )

I really needed one more easy match, because I could still feel the sweat
from that Poor Man's vs. Poor Man's battle. This match fits me perfect. He
starts out with Spearow and Abra. While I get Rattata and Charmander ( just
what i need ). Charmander goes and battles Spearow untill he has 30 Hp left.
Ember. Out comes poor little Abra. Rattata smashes him. Anti- Haymakers don't
cut it against the Poor Man for some reason....

Record 4-0

Round 5 vs. Haymaker Potpourri

One more victory to win the tournament, one more victory to get the big
prize, one more victory to have an UNDEFEATED October, and I have to play
Haymaker Potpourri. Well, I started to think about it, and I match up pretty
good with this deck. I was just hoping only that Scott Gerhardt knew how to
play it, and not this kid. he starts out with a Hitmochan and a benched
Kangaskhan. I draw a Magmar and a Rattata. Why did it have to be Rattata?
Well I have to start him, cause Magmar is my heavy hitter and I need him. I
don't lay any energy on Rattata, knowing very well he would die anyway. So I
pump the Magmar for those two turns.Fire Punch, and the game starts to look
better for me. I draw a Bill next turn, use it and get a Farfetch and a plus
power.I quickly bench Farfetch and slap the pluspower onto Magmar. Fire
Punch, there goes the precious Hitmochan.By this time Kangaskhan is also
fully pumped and ready to stomp all over Magmar. He only needed two heads to
kill me and of course he gets them. Out comes Farfetch with one energy on
him. I draw a card, and thank god for creating whoever thought of Machop. I
retreat Farfetch and Low Kick for 40. I can smell victory. I think I expected
to much competiton from this deck, because it was really not that hard of a
match. He tries to buy some time, and slaps down energy removal. But I'll I
did was lay one back out on Machop next turn.
He comet punches for 20, and the game is basically over as one more pluspower
comes out to finish Kangaskhan.

Record 5-0 ( 14-0 in October )

UNDEFEATED OCTOBER !!!   UNDEFEATED OCTOBER !!!
This was definetly the best deck I have used so far, and it was hot all
October. I was anxious to receive my prize of 2 Theme Decks, and 4 Booster
Packs. The decks were Zap! and Water Blast. * Ugh * But I can't complain, two
decks for free is great. The boosters were 2 Fossil / 2 Jungle. I got two much
needed fossil gastly's in the boosters. Next time I will use a deck I have
been tweaking with the only two rare cards I will use... Kangaskhan and
Fossil Haunter. Untill next time....
