Hey PoJo, here's my first article on the "How to beat popular decks" section ou guys said you would put up. This week, it will be, how to beat haymaker. Here we go: Okay, I would like to say, that haymaker is the most popular deck of them all. Personally, I hate haymaker and think it is a cheap piece of garbage, that only people who can't make their own decks use (absolutely no offense to Ryan Truong). But, this article has nothing to do with me hating haymaker, it has to do with beating hay. I'm sure most of you are glad that this is the first article on this section, because alot of people want to know the best way to beat hay. Okay, good pokemon to beat hay are as follows: fossil magmar, fossil gastly&haunter, scyther, rhyhorn, and hitmonchan. If you play against a hay, you must be ESPECIALLY carefull about how you use your bills and oaks, because you have a good chance of getting decked. When you play against hay, DON'T let up, just be relentless, and keep attacking. If you play SER and ER, try to get them out ASAP, and keep a steady lockdown on one pokemon at a time. All decks need LOTS of gusts, hitmonchan is the most powerfull hay pokemon, and the best way to KO them is with gusts and scyther/Fgastly/Fhaunter, gust up the hitmo, use SER/ER to prevent it from retreating, and put up a fight-resist poke to beat on the hitmo. Electabuzz is a different story, when facing this guy, you MUST HAVE SWITCHES AND SCOOP UPS! Buzz likes to paralyze, and you need those switches and scoops to keep attacking it. Try to use rhyhorn, hitmonchan is second best to beat buzz. Rhyhorn resists buzz, and buzz has weakness to him. Try to gust out the buzz, get rhyhorn up there, if you use plus powers, get them out, and try to get the buzz outa there in one attack. If you let haymaker get on the right track by not being aggressive and not using ERs, it will DESTROY you. NEVER let hitmo, buzz, scyther, or any other hay pokemon get loaded, it will hurt you. But, back to beating certain pokes, the last is scyther, we don't need to talk about farfetch'd because it isn't so good anymore, and isn't much of a threat. Like I said, you'll need magmar, preferably fossil, to take out scyther. Just be relentless against scyther too, smokescreen it, then KO it with smog. Since scyther needs 3 energy to attack, all you need is an SER and two gusts to get it with magmar(2 gusts cause it will probably retreat). But, if you make an anti hay, be carefull with your rhyhorn, because he's weak to grass, try to get him in there, KO a buzz or too, scoop him up, and don't let him go back down unless another buzz comes up. Remember when playing hay, NEVER USE ANY SACRIFICES!!! DO NOT let hay get ahead in prizes, because if your opponent DOES get ahead in prizes, they will probably get more aggressive with their hay, because they already hace a prize advantage, and have a cussion incase one of their pokes gets KOed. Just remeber these rules, and try your best against hay. See ya'll later. Griffin B. baseballace@hotmail.com Until next time...
