WOTC CHAT REPORT
March 30, 2001

Well, not much new info this week; many of the same questions about STS that have already been answered. But there are a couple new tidbits you might enjoy. Please take special note about my "Parental Permission Slips" questions for ages 13 and under.

SUPER TRAINER SHOWDOWN (STS):

master_trainer_pat presents the speaker with question #11 from
warlockmaster:
Can you reveal if the ECSTS format will have different formats for different age groups?
master_trainer_pat says, "It was decided to go with one format for
everyone."

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #28 from
samantha_129:
Any format *hints*?
master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #29 from
electabuzz_13:
will the new format for the STS be the same as last year with 15/3, or will
it be something totally new?
master_trainer_mike says, "It will be different and that is all we will tell
you until it is announced."

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #101 from lugia_401:
When are you accepting calls for the pre-registration for the ests?
master_trainer_mike says, "It will probably start 3-4 weeks before the
event. Watch our web site for details."

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #167 from
pocketalmonster:
how many players of each age group will win a trip each day at a qualifier
master_trainer_mike says, "1 trip for 10 and under, 2 trips for 11-14"

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #10 from chrisbo:
Last week you mentioned that ages 13 and under require parental permission
to participate in the QT's and the STS. What if I as a parent plan to bring
along my child's friends? Will they need "permission slips" from their
parents?
master_trainer_mike says, "Yes they will."

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #49 from chrisbo:
Re: Q10 - About permission slips, is there any way that you guys can make up
a standard form and post it on the website? Just print it & bring it with
you. I know a lot of kids will arrive in groups taxied there by just one
parent.
master_trainer_mike says, "I knew you would ask that!!!"
master_trainer_mike says, "I don't think there is a standard form but I will
ask. It just has to say "I give my child permission (child's name) to
participate in the ESTS." and then the parents signature and date."

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #176 from chrisbo:
On the website it says that the One-Day Qualifiers will have open
side-events for prizes, but for the Two-Day qualifiers it only mentions a
"League Zone". Will there be extra side events for prizes at the Two-Day
stops or not?
master_trainer_mike says, "I don't believe so."
[CHRISBO NOTE: Later on I re-checked the website and it says that you can
earn promo cards at the Two-Day stops; I imagine they will not be exclusives
(i.e. probably extra Entei & Pichu or stuff like that), but you never
know...]

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #238 from oldman_405:
At the QT's will there be at least 1 official from Wizards present or is it
all local people running them?
master_trainer_mike says, "Depends on the QT, Wizards employees will be at
each 2 day event but the one day events are run by local TO's."

PROMO CARDS:

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #123 from soslowpoke:
RE: (last week) Why only one promo for this movie?
master_trainer_mike says, "Because it is the most expensive promo card we
have made yet, it looks great!!"
master_trainer_pat says, "It's easier on the Theaters also"
master_trainer_mike says, "And Pat is right, it was much harder on theaters
when there were multiple cards."

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #117 from soslowpoke:
do you get a little card thingy from the Entei promo and exchange it for a
Pichu promo?
master_trainer_mike says, "no, there is just an ad card telling you about
the league, where you go and join to earn the promo."

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #140 from
turbocharizard:
Okay, spill the beans! The release of Entei is only a few days away. How
does it let you get Pichu?!
master_trainer_mike says, "it does not, it just includes a card that tells
you that you can earn the Pichu in Season 4 of the Pokemon league."
[CHRISBO NOTE: So it looks like Pichu *is* going to be the Season 4 promo
after all. Plus, you're going to have to earn it.]

master_trainer_pat presents the speaker with question #181 from flareon007:
Will the reverse holo Pichu be the 4th season promo or will there still be
another promo?
master_trainer_pat says, "Hold your Horseas and see."

That's all folks,
- CHRISBO
