Kyle Theaker's Deck Garage
Playing with Fire and a rant
6.02.05

Hello, everyone.  Sorry I've been gone for so long.  I've been busy with finals at school and some bad stuff happened to me that sorta got my spirits in this game down.  For one thing, my ONLY Modified deck got stolen.  It was a Dragtrode deck.  Man, I loved that deck, too.  The local league where I played was Modified-only with all tournaments, so I couldn't play much after that.  I'd like to add that this whole league at this store was MY idea, so I was hoping I would have a say in the format so a few friends of mine would be able to play.  I may never be able to rebuild that deck, as the store that I went to is closed down, so I no longer have access to Dark Electrodes/Dragonites.  I'm not giving up, though.

Another thing that dampened my spirits was greed, for lack of better term.  People at that place knew that I needed Dragtrode resources, so they utterly took advantage of me.  One guy even took my Treeko*, one of my favorite cards.  It was a fun opening drop in my Grass deck, and meant a lot to me.  It had been traded to me by a friend and when the guy (not my friend) found out, he was all over me telling me to trade it back to my friend.  He told me that he would give me something to compensate for what I traded to my friend.  He gave me a Hidden Legends Pinsir.  He said he'd also give me a Grass energy from Emerald, but didn't have it withy him.  Then he ripped my friend off, giving him a couple terrible ex cards.  God, I hate that sort of thing.

Well anyway, now that our session of "Fell sorry for the Deck Mech" is over, on to the fix.  As promised, this is the first Fire deck that I got, so I'm going to fix it up.  Without any further ado, I present the "Phoenix Phire Deck".

hey kyle, my name is Max, i have this uber powerful fire deck that has a main strategy of keeping fire energy on almost anyone so they can keep hitting hard.

i cant get any e-reader cards and i dont have many pokemon EXs but i can try hard to find almost any card. (i have a vendeta against the E-reader series)

i called it Phoenix Phire cause it has a way of keeping energy in play so charizard can keep going. aside from recycle energy and bredder feilds it looks to be a mostly modifed but since i rarely play in tournaments it is concidered a unlimited.

well here is Phoenix Phire

Hehe... I like that last part, " i would reayy appreciate it if you could find all if any bugs in my deck so i can let it burn!"

Every deck has some bugs or it wouldn't have been submitted to me!  Anyway, this deck looks like fun, so we'll see what I can do with it.

Pokémon

Since this deck is focused around big damage with Charizard, we'll modify this deck to accommodate that.

First, let's scrap the entire line and run this:

-Entire Charizard line

+ 4 Charmander (FRLG #58)
+ 2 Charmeleon (FRLG)
+ 3 Charizard

Next, I believe that in Unlimited, Typhlosion is far better than Blaziken, because Blaze only affects benched Pokémon.  So...

-Blaziken Line

+3 Cyndaquil (Pick anyone you like)
+2 Quilava (Neo Genesis #47)
+3 Typhlosion (Neo Genesis #17)

The Magcargo line is fine, but let's add 1 Slugma.

+ 1 Slugma

Trainers

I'm going to reconstruct this line from scratch, so let's dump everything.

Now then, I'm going to try something slightly risky, but it may be effective.  Add 2 Pokémon Centers.  Because you discard a lot of energy, but use Typhlosion to recover it, the Centers will work for healing.

To get out the evolutions quickly, we need 3 Rare Candies

For searching we need 3 Computer Search.

Draw power comes in the form of 3 Professor Oaks.

3 Copycat also provide draw speed.

2 Switch move around your big evo’s.

2 Gust of Wind provide disruption.

2 Item Finder

Fill up on Fire

There you go, enjoy.

Wow, that made me feel better.  I feel energized.  I’m going to do another fix soon, so keep your eye out for it.

By the way, if I haven’t fixed your deck yet, please re-send it.  I recently cleared out my entire Inbox.
