DECK NAME: Underdog

Hi Pokèmon Lady. I'm from south central Pennsylvania and I'm 16, I never used to be interested in Pokèmon, and quite frankly, I thought it was dumb. Then my cousin had me play and I've loved it ever since. I love the card game because I'm a strategy person and this is my kind of game next to RISK. Now to my deck

I have fought many people with this deck and on the surface when they see it, they think I'm nuts. (If you think this deck is too, that's ok, your here to help me) Many people also think I don't have anything good cards to use cause many of these Pokèmon are considered "weak". I have surprised many of them with this deck and my own version of Raindance, haymakers, water energy removal (Poliwrath, Dragonair, Golduck), and brushfire This deck isn't meant to start fast, but it isn't a deck that will die right away, its meant to last for a while because many of them have a cheap retreat cost (exception Mewtwo) and have a cheap cost for attacking. I have many people and Energy searches in that help me get more energies that I lack and retrievals and Gastly to get them back. I put Slowbro in to be a sponge for potion replacement and also since Paralysis is quite annoying. I put trainers in to get me more cards to draw, search for ones I want, of put them back in my hand or deck. I put Articuno in to add some power it may lack and Mankey to look at my prizes (If this is illegal, please tell me, I'm not sure). I use the paralysis to my advantage to get more Pokèmon and built up on them. to slow down powerful decks like rain dance, brushfire, or haymakers, I put in a lot of SER's and ER's (could put more in but needed other cards). I play Hypno as soon as possible till I can do Dark Mind so I can keep them from getting there best ones after I kill the necessary basic. I use Lass if they are ER a lot or healing self, I then do Item finder or Slowpoke to get back any good trainers I lost from Lass. Because many people underestimate my deck, they don't worry to much in the beginning which gives me the advantage of getting cards, setting them up, and keeping them from counter attacking with using SER's & ER's. I have been quite successful with this deck and I am 17-5 with it. If this is too little Info, sorry cause this is the first time I'm submitting for deck up grades. I thank you for you time and here are my cards I use below:

The final evaluation of the deck will come with play testing and practice. The more you use it, the sooner you will discover which trainers you can drop, which Pokèmon you use more than others, and if you have enough energy. Remember, this is only one way that you could fix this deck. You will be sure to discover new ways to improve it, the more you play it.
The first thing that I have to say is Bravo on your strategy. You gave me enough info about your deck, and how you play it to allow me to give you advice that will be more than just guessing.

Now, for your deck. It is my opinion that you are spreading yourself way too thin. Your evolutions are not built strongly enough, and your trainers are not enough to work with this kind of strategy.

Generally, unless a deck is designed with the idea of "only one card" in mind, it is a bad idea to have singles of anything in a deck. Mathematically, there is a 10% chance (6/60) that your "single" card will wind up in the prize pile. If it winds up in the Prizes, you won't even get it unless you are lucky enough to knock out an opponent's Pokèmon. Assuming the "single" card you are looking for is NOT in the prize pile, there is only a 13.746% chance (1/54 + 1/53 +... 1/48) that you will draw it in your first 7 cards. This percentage will go up slightly each time you draw a card from your draw pile. But, if you have two or more of any type of card in your deck, you have a significantly better likelihood of seeing it at a time it will be useful to you.

From your Pokèmon side, remove the lone Articuno, the Gastly, and the Mewtwo. Also take out the Drowzee and Hypos. We need to make room for trainers that will aid you in your quest for Pokèmon mastery. Add 1 each of Mankey,, Mr. Mime,  and Jynx. Adding these Pokèmon evens out your families and increases your chances of getting them when you need them.

In your Trainer section remove Pokeball, Potion, Super Potion, and Pokedex. Singles of any of these cards will do you zero good. In their place add 2 Switch and 2 Gust of Wind. Switch lets you pull damaged or status effected Pokèmon to the bench, while Gust of Wind lets you bring up your opponent's damaged or low HP Pokèmon for a quick kill.

I've also noticed you've devoted most of the space in your Trainer section to cards that find or retrieve your energy while removing your opponent's energy. If this is the idea you want to follow, why don't you add 3 Psyduck and 2 Golduck to your deck... take advantage of Psyduck's "headache" to keep your opponent from using trainers, and use Go duck's "hyperbeam" to do 20 damage plus removing an energy.

If you use Golduck's attack, you won't need as many energy removing cards. Removing two Super Energy Removal will decrease the number of energy cards going to the discard pile, so you could remove one energy search as well. If you feel you need to use the Super Energy Removal you have left in your deck, use your CPU Search or Monkey's power to find it. If it winds up in the discard, use Slowpoke or Item Finder to scoop it out.

Mr. Fuji and Scoop up are good cards, but I am going to suggest you trade the Scoop up for an extra Fuji. Scoop up causes you to discard energy and evolution while Fuji saves those energies and evolutions by having you shuffle them back into your deck. Burn the energy for the retreat if you have to--but if you're trying to save your Slowbro or Hypno, it's worth the minor sacrifice. Finally, add 1 more Item finder, CPU Search, Pokèmon Trader, and Bill.

Lass may stop your opponent from using trainers, but it also stops you. I suggest  you rely more on your Psyduck's Headache and not as much on Lass. Drop the Lass.

Now, I'm going to suggest you add 2 Gambler, and remove the 1 Professor Oak. Why? Gambler gives you the chance to shuffle a hand of worthless cards back into your deck. Then, you either get to draw 1 card or 8 cards--but either way, you're getting rid of a hand of cards you can't use in hopes of getting something you can. Even if the luck isn't with you, you at least replenish your draw pile. I want you to leave the Oak in there, because you can use your CPU Search or your Mankey to find it, and use it when you need it.

Now you should have 2 Gust of Wind, Switch, Energy Search, Energy Retrieval, Item Finder, Mr. Fuji, CPU Search, Pokèmon Trader, Bill, and Gambler. You will also have 1 Super Energy Removal, and 3 Energy Removal.

You now have room for 20 energies. At least 4 of those should be water to power up Psyduck's "fury swipes" , and an additional 2 to power up "Hyperbeam" if you choose to use it. If you choose to NOT use it, you could theoretically put 20 psychic into the deck. For now, use 6 Water and 14 Psychic.
