Maractus

Hello and welcome to a new week of reviews on Pojo’s CotD. We kick off with a look at Maractus from the recent Flashfire set.

Yes, this Maractus is a terrible card, but it’s bad in a way that is kind of hilarious. The first attack, Exciting Shake (yep, really) doesn’t do anything except allow you to flip not two but SIX coins if you use Prickly Needles next turn. And what does Prickly Needles do? 20 for each heads . . . so you need to use an attack to set it up and then hope for an incredible run of luck in order to do 120 damage.

Not that Maractus is likely to survive a turn with just 90 HP. It’s not as if we can’t think of dozens of easier and more reliable ways to do 120 either.

Rating

Modified: 1.25 (the .25 is for comedy value)

Limited: 1.75 (only if you’re kind of desperate)
