Lapras (Plasma Blast)

Sometimes we get a card for review that offers promising combos and interacts with the metagame in complex ways that require detailed explanation. This isn’t one of those times.

Lapras has a solid 100 HP and an obscure Weakness, but not much else going for it. It doesn’t evolve, doesn’t have a good retreat cost, and the attacks are overpriced and pretty useless. Cleanse Away heals 30 off your Benched Pokémon, but costs two Energy and the use of your attack. This means you are better off running Potion and/or Mr Mime PLF. Surf offers a vanilla 70 damage but requires four Energy to do it. No thanks.

Not a lot to say about this card really. You won’t ever see it in a competitive deck or even in a half decent fun deck at League. It’s just not very good.

Rating

Modified: 1.25 (pure filler)

Limited: 2 (many better cards to use here too)
