Unlimited - Flygon is useless here, so no reason to use Vibrava. 1/5

Modified - Could be a nice combo with Flygon ex. Damage their bench with Sand Wind then finish em off with Psychic Pulse. 2/5

Limited - The attacks are too weak, even here. 1/5

Vibrava Lv. 37 SW

Hello everyone and anyone who is reading this. Today’s COTD is the stage one to Flygon, the grand sandy beast of old (Well, I guess it isn’t that old.) This Vibrava is great for the sand damage Flygon EX, unfortunately the attacks on this thing are fighting, not psychic. And now that rainbow energy is gone and delta rainbow energy isn’t any good on this, it doesn’t really matter. Unfortunately Flygon from SW isn’t that good, only doing 60 – 80 for 3 energies and only doing 1 damage to non-fighting active pokemon. Also, with Gardylade everywhere and Mario still popping up places, this card just isn’t good enough.

Pros –
Damage for everyone!
Hyper beam is nice
Retreat cost at 1 is OK

Cons –
Needs to evolve
Rare candy > Stage 1 pokemon

Unlimited - stage 2’s here? Yea right. 1/5

Modified – Use it for Flygon only. 3/5

Limited – by itself it can start to put the burn on low HP opponents 3.5/5

Great Encounters Prerelease is not the far away! I’ve got mine at the start of February!

Hola fellow Pokefreaks,  Today’s COTD just so happens to evolve into my personal favorite Pokemon FLYGON. Here’s Vibrava

Vibrava LV.37 80 HP (Fighting)

(F) Sand Wind
Does 10 damage to each of your opponent's Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)

(F)(C)(C) Hyper Beam

Weakness Resistance Retreat
(W) +20 (L) -20  (C)

Upsides:
Stage 1
Resistance
1 Retreat cost
Sniping Card
Energy discard

Downsides:
80 HP
Weakness
3 for 40

Unlimited:3/5
Modified :3.66/5
Limited 4/5
Arbok14 Name: Vibrava LV 37

Set: Secret Wonders

Rarity: Uncommon

Overview: Vibrava is a Stage 1 Pokemon which evolves from Trapinch and into Flygon. This guy is fighting-type and has 80 HP, +20 Weakness to water, -20 Resistance to lightning, and a Retreat Cost of 1. Its first attack, 'Sand Wind,' costs (F) and does 10 damage to each of your opponent's Pokemon (weakness and resistance only applied to the Defending pokemon). Its second attack, 'Hyper Beam,' costs (FCC), does 40 damage and has you flip a coin to allow you to discard an energy card attached to the Defending Pokemon on a heads flip.

Analysis: Again, 80 HP is pretty good for a stage 1 which can still evolve. The weakness to water isn't bad, and any resistance is good so this one is no exception. I really like this card for its first attack. It combos INCREDIBLY well with Flygon EX. Hyper Beam is OK, but Sand Wind is what makes this one probably the best Vibrava for use with Flygon EX. I think this should get decent play for anyone still using Flygon EX (me).

Unlimited: Not the heavy hitter you will need here. (1/5)

Modified: I like this. Any Flygon Ex deck should use this, in my opinion. It provides a nice combo with Flygon Ex and a smooth transition into it. Granted, it isn't a delta Pokemon, but I think it is useful enough that it should be used. (3.5/5)

Limited: Definitely good here, especially since retreating heavily-damaged Pokemon is a must in Limited. Use it to sweep your opponent's bench late game. Hyper Beam is also very good, as it can discard energy and therefore cripple your opponent. (4.5/5)
