Dialga Lv. 68 GE

Morning. Today’s COTD is a reprint of a DP card that hasn’t seen any play and only will here because of its Lv. X. 90 HP is nice for a basic pokemon, but not for late game. The first attack is decent, 10 damage and draw, it should be 20 damage though to be very useful. Flash canon is the most over exaggerated, expensive attack on any pokemon I’ve ever seen. 40 for 2 (m) and (C) sucks, and to use the effect you have to remove all energy from Dialga back to you hand. You do all of this and you can… Devolve your opponent’s active pokemon? Even if you do get to shuffle the highest stage pokemon back into their deck it still isn’t worth it. The only way I could see this attack work is with a scramble energy.

Pros –
Good HP
Scramble-able

Cons –
Not enough HP
Attacks need to be boosted (Not talking about the energy)
Bit 2 much retreat cost

Unlimited – Yea… No, just no. 1/5

Modified – Only use with scramble energy or Lv. X. 3.75/5

Limited – Specific energy needing hog! 2.25/5

See you all on the other side… Or next week.

OK, so today is Friday (!!), and we have another review to conclude our first week of cards from Great Encounters. Today is Dialga, which you may recognize from Diamond and Pearl (yeah, Nintendo got really creative here).

Name: Dialga Lv. 68
Set: Great Encounters
Rarity: Rare

Analysis: Dialga is a basic metal Pokemon which does not evolve. 90 HP is pretty good for it, but the weakness to fire is not good. Its resistance is to psychic, which is pretty good. For one metal energy, its first attack does 10 damage and allows you to draw a card, which is great. Flash cannon can be useful if the difference between the HP of your opponent's active evolved Pokemon and its previous form would knock it out depending on the damage on it. For example, if the attack is done on a Feraligatr and puts Feraligatr's damage up to 100, you could choose to use the devolution effect to knock it out, because Croconaw only has 80 HP and its damage total would be at 100. But forty damage doesn't make it great, soo...

Unlimited: No thanks not good at all here. (1/5)

Modified: Not bad, but not great. I'm not sure if it is getting a Lv X. (2/5)

Limited: It's OK. High HP, plus a good starting attack. I would probably take it, except for the fact that it definitely needs metal energies and there aren't many metal pokemon in this set. (3/5)
