Rotom

Unlimited - Nyet. 1/5

Modified - Astonish and Telebeam are your normal every day attacks. Nothing to write home about. Rotom doesn't even evolve into anything, so this thing is basically useless. 1/5

Limited - Astonish can help mess up your opponent's plans. If you get lucky and flip a few heads on Telebeam, you'll have a good chance to win the game. 3/5

Alright, I hope you all are doing well; today we have Rotom, a new D/P Pokemon showing off a new type combination of Ghost/Electric.

Name: Rotom Lv. 38
Set: Great Encounters
Rarity: Rare Holo

Analysis: Rotom is an unevolvable Basic electric-type Pokemon. Its weakness, interestingly enough, is to Darkness, not Fighting (like pretty much all other Electric Pokemon). Unfortunately, the weakness is +20, and with only 70 HP, Rotom quickly becomes Darkrai bait. Its resistance to colorless is nice, though. Rotom is slow, as both attacks require two energy, and unreliable. Astonish is nice; for two of any energy, it allows you to do 20 damage and shuffle back a card from the opponent's hand. For this though, Absol is much better because it only needs one energy and it discards the card with the possibility of discarding another. Telebeam is can do 60 plus paralysis on a flip for two Lightning energy. When a Pokemon's best attack relies on a coin flip, you should generally steer away from it.

Unlimited: Not worth it. Most decks will knock it out before it even gets two energies. Plus it's flippy. (1/5)

Modified: Still not very good here. It needs two energy for both attacks and is flippy. (1/5)

Limited: Gets a little better here, as it can do damage and cause disruption on the opponent for any energy. If you get a lot of other Lightning pokemon, put it in your deck. (2.5/5)

Looks like the week is rolling by fast because it is already Thursday! Today’s COTD is a new card from GE that I’m not sure will see any play. It’s the ghostly little electric bug Rotom that is bound to make all of you techno people glad it’s not real. 70 HP on a basic is OK, and 1 retreat is decent (Well not really for an electric ghost but…) It’s first attack, Astonish, is a basic 20 damage and discard one card from your opponents hand for 2 (C), not so much happening there. The second attack is the only reason this card may ever see any play. 30 for 2 (L) isn’t much, but 60 and paralyze is great. Too bad all that stands between the 30 and 60 W/ Paralyze is a stupid coin flip. Weakness isn’t too bad, you just have to worry about Murkrow. Resistance can let this thing have at least a little bit of a chance at lasting against Blissey. But not really much reason to play him.

Pros –
Good resistance
Possible 60 w/ Paralyze

Cons –
Possible 30
First attack really isn’t worth it

Unlimited – Why when Sneasle kick his… Paper. 1/5

Modified – Possible 60 W/ Paralyze may attract some but coin flips will chase them away! 2.25/5

Limited – 2 (L) is a bit much but it may work. 3.75/5

Wow, this thing kinda sucks. Too bad, I liked the guy in the video game,

I guess it might be a killer in limited but that's all it does… to flippy to weak to useless
