Otaku

Grr… still not enough time to do a real review, but unfortunately the only regular reviewer only plays Unlimited.  Since cards are made for Modified play, even though his reviews are spot on, they tend to be depressing. ;)

Seriously though, as has already been stated, only use this card if you insist on using a Metagross deck in Unlimited.  While it has the best type combination of them and has both a useful Poké-Power and Attack, just about any deck you could use them in has better options.

Modified is an entirely different story.  Anything that can recycle attach Energy from the discard or from the deck to a Pokémon likes this card.  Since most Pokémon that attach Energy from the deck do it with an attack or with Special Energy, they don’t like it as much as Delta Species Dragonite, which can recycle Electric Energy from the discard and attach it to Benched Pokémon in the same manner Blaziken used to (only targeting Electric Energy instead of Fire).  The attack states you can discard any Energy cards you have attached to your Pokémon in play for 20 damage (on top of base 30 damage).  So if you attach an Energy card each turn, you can then recycle up to four more via that Dragonite’s Poké-Power to score up to 130 damage a turn.  Thanks to the Poké-Power I skipped over (look at the top four cards of your deck and draw one), Magcargo becomes Pidgeot.  So you don’t need 3 Stage 2 cards.  Two Stage 2 Pokémon and one Stage 1 is crowded, but it’s not horrid.  This card has a very good chance of being one of the new hot decks.  Just watch out for Battle Frontier. ;)

Ratings

Unlimited: 1.5/5-It does turn Oracle into a no discard Computer Search, and it enjoys Recycle Energy.  The difficulty comes from protecting its Energy while supporting its attack.

Modified: 4/5-Tailor made for Modified.  It may flop, but I really doubt it.

Limited: 3.5/5-Even if you just have it bench sitting, its draw power and can soak a few hits.  If you pull anything to provide a Metal Energy, it’s an okay attacker.

Hey all,

Today's card is Metagross from Delta Species.

Nope. Its a stage 2 with low HP and a power that's better performed by trainers. Its attack is subpar. Find a different Poke.

Once during your turn (before your attack), you may look at the top 4 cards of your deck, choose 1 of them, and put it into your hand. Put the other 3 cards on the bottom of your deck in any order. This power can't be used if Metagross is affected by a Special Condition.

Crush and Burn 30+

You may discard as many Energy cards as you like attached to your Pokemon in play. If you do, this attack does 30 damage plus 20 more damage for each Energy card you discarded.

PokePower: its a Mini-Pokedex, it adds one card from 4 to your hand you don't even have to be active, you can possibly grab the bottom cards using Pro Cosmo's Dicovery, or put the one you will want more at the top most of the bottom, you might not see it anytime soon, but it will be there!

Attack: You can do as much damage as you want, you could combo this with all sorts of energy attachers- Starmie that was revived last time attaches a Metal Energy to itself- Blastoies EX or Base - running two evolutions is hard, but not impossible.. Basically anything that gives you alot of engery. Or as a finisher move. You could just use it to do 90 damage by itself as a last resort.

Its weak to fire, resists grass and costs 3 to retreat. So if you see fire run, if you see grass laugh, and Your pretty much stuck active if your active.
