Weezing - EX Deoxys

Date Reviewed: 04.25.05

Ratings & Reviews Summary
Unlimited: 2.25
Modified: 3.15
Limited: 3.4

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale.
1 being the worst.  3 ... average.  5 is the highest rating.

Johnny Blaze
Weezing 70 HP isn’t that big in today’s environment anymore.  However that is not what you want to use Weezing for.

Liability is the reason.  Dont get me wrong it is not the Holy Grail of all Pokemon cards but with the possibility of being able to take 2 prizes by using Liability against a Pokemon-ex and keep Weezing alive by playing a Low Pressure System could just win you a game or 2.

Well how do you ko the Pokemon-ex you ask?  Easy just poison their say Grass resistant Metagross-ex with your Dark Crobat then bring up Weezing and use its Liability attack.  Liability will place 14 damage counters :0 on Metagross-ex, then the poison in between turns will ko the Metagross-ex netting you 2 prizes while your Koffing stays alive since Low Pressure system is in place.

Weezing’s 2nd attack Smogscreen is no joke either.  Auto poison with a smokescreen effect on the defending Pokemon for only 2 energies that deals 20 damage is a decent attack.

Unlimted: 2.5/5 – With some trainer denial and recycle energies Weezing can become very annoying in this format.

Modified: 3/5 – Definitely you need Weezing in a deck that can not only support the 1:1 or 2:1 gain prize/loss prize ratio but you need a backup attacker once Weezing goes down.

Limited: 3/5 – Smogscreen is your saving grace here.  With limited healing and switching going on Weezing can hold its own against any limited deck.

Jaeger Todays Card of the Day is Weezing 51/107 from Deoxys

Hit Points: 70HP is a little low but most of the time your just going to use Liability which will KO Weezing anyway.

Weakness: Once again if you bring Weezing out your probally just going to use Liability so weakness isn't a huge problem.

Attack 1(Liability): If you use this attack along with Desert Ruins or Dark Crobat you can KO almost any pokemon in one hit and I will admit the first time I read this card I did not think it was that good becuase unless it was a Pokemon EX it would only be a 1 for 1 trade then I realized that Weezing only takes one energy to use the attack so if you can KO something that took your opponent two or more turns to power up then it doesen't seem as fair of a trade for your opponent.

Attack 2(Smogscreen): Two energy for 20 damage and posion and your opponent has to flip to see if he can hurt you, whats not like.

Summary: A deck designed around Weezing and Liability can set up quick and can get quick knock outs and would take far more Stradgey to play and play against, all in all a pretty well rounded card.

Unlimited 2/5

Modified 3.3/5

Limited: 3.8/5
