Pojo's Pokemon Card of the Day

Manectric-ex - Deoxys

Date Reviewed: 04.07.05

Ratings & Reviews Summary
Unlimited: 2.5
Modified: 2.5
Limited: 4

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale.
1 being the worst.  3 ... average.  5 is the highest rating.

Johnny Blaze
Manectric-ex – Another Pokemon-ex that doesn’t see a lot of play but really should. I’ve seen it in action and it can do a lot of damage really quickly. Unfortunately Zapdos-ex is the main Lightning Pokemon that sees a lot of play in Modified. Just use the Electrike with Recharge and you have a 2nd turn 80 Mega Shot to anyone of your opponent’s Pokemon.

Unlimited: 2.5/5 – A little baby Tyrogue can cause a lot of problems for Electrike to even evolve into Manectric-ex. However, Disconnect is a very interesting attack in limited as it does 40 damage for 2 and then your opponent can not play any trainers other than Supporters during their next turn. This makes this card virtually ER proof.

Modified: 2.5/5: - As I mentioned before Zapdos-ex and Dark Ampharos are the main Lighting attackers seen. Magma and Sand Damage T-tar hurt Manectric a lot.

Limited: 4/5 – With the possibility of Turn 2 80 who would not want to take this especially if you draft the Recharge Electrike. 2 for 40 isnt too shabby either.

Ash

My review for Manectric ex

Ash is finally back!! Hey guys…because of some reasons, I left here for 2 weeks, and I am back…with a card review of Manectric ex. Let’s see a spoiler…

Manectric ex DX 100 HP

[1L] Disconnect (40) Your opponent can't play any Trainer cards (except for Supporter cards) from his or her hand during your opponent's next turn.

[1LL] Mega Shot () Discard all [L] Energy attached to Manectric ex and then choose 1 of your opponent's Pokémon.  This attack does 80 damage to that Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)

Weakness:  Fighting

Resistance:  Metal

RC: 1

It’s really great Pokemon. I experienced it before it was released and it’s really wonderful – for both attacks. The worst part is it only have 100 HP which can be easily killed by something like TM’s Groudon or Dark T.tar. Not bad through, and it can let you have a quick start.

(Sorry I left Pokemon for a little while so my mind is…I mean my review can be a bit foolish. XD)

Attacks: excellent attacks! For Disconnect, your opponent can’t play any trainers except for Supporter cards from his hand. It’s great because it the first few turns people love to use R Pokeball and Master Ball =). In the other hand, for its second attack Mega Shot, it’s almost as powerful as Blaze ex’s Volcanic Ash. Attack 80 damage to one of the opponent’s Pokemon – it can kill Mr. Mine ex and Rocket’s Scyther ex by one hit – cool! I just love it =P

Combos: I can just think for Electrode ex + TA’s Manectric. I just saw manyone who use it in Zapdos ex decks with Rayquaza ex DX. That’s a great idea because Electrike DX can be a Pokemon who can charge electric energies also, instead of Elekid and Voltorb. ;)

Ratings:

Unlimited: 3.5/5 LOL not much differences with Modified format…but you can knock out Base Electrode and attach it as 2 energies on Manectric ex, then attack one more energy, 80 again.

Modified: 4/5 it’s an excellent idea to put it in Zapdos ex decks because you can make use of the 2 energies on Electrike if you can’t get Zapdos ex – evolve Manectric ex and do 80 damages!

Limited: 4/5 also a great idea because it can block non-supporters in your opponent’s next turn and POWERFUL attacks…

Overall: 3.85/5 very nice card here.

Sorry I really don’t know why I can’t get a ‘Pokemon Cards Mind’ when I’m writing this card review…sorry. =(

Also if you guys wish I may talk something about Japanese Half-Decks with my card review? (That means I can talk about is this card good/bad in Jap Half-Decks)

;) welcome for any opinions to ash_cheng@hotmail.com <--- also my MSN or AIM AshVanJe

Thanks!
