Pojo's Pokemon Card of the Day

Life Herb - EX Hidden Legends

Date Reviewed: 6.28.04

Ratings & Reviews below

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale
1 being the worst.  3 ... average.
5 is the highest rating.

Jermy101 Life Herb is a flippy card. I don't like it. If anything I would rather use Potion.

Unlimited - Use Gold Berry or Focus Band. 1/5

Modified - This format is about OHKOs so healing doesn't do great in this format. Anyway I'd rather use Potion. 1/5

Limited - A chance at healing your Pokemon is alright. 2/5

First, a quick little quote from an old Lord Gothmog review. ...here I opened wide the door; Tails-fails there and nothing more... Why this quote, I thought his review of Team Rocket's Trap was pretty cool (check it out, 1-31-02) and this is a tails-fails trainer.

Unlimited- Why? Why would you play this? If I only say one thing in my life, I say this. There are so many better choices, why waste deck slot on a mediocre flip card? 1.25/5 here.

Modified- Slightly better, but still, there are better options. Many of which do not require flips in the least. What can I say, half the time it's great, half the time it's a wasted deck slot. I don't like those odds. 1.75/5

Limited- The only place this is good. Odds your nobody else in your pod is going to have one, so that gives you an edge right there. Add if you make the flip, that is one huge edge. Maybe even the edge you need to win the game, even the tourney. 50/50, I like those odds in a draft match. 3.25/5 here.

Life Herb – This card would have been so great without a flip its not even funny. But alas you get the old flippy and this drops the rating of this card by 3 points.

Unlimited – No good here. Pokemon Center, Gold Berry, you get the picture
1/5

Modified – I saw some people at Nationals play this card but then again they didn’t make the Top 16 either. Just a waste of a flip if it is tails. Switch and potion is much better here than this.
1.5/5

Limited – This card has the best chance here. Anytime there is little healing power in a set. Use it. A lucky flip can give you a game win more easily in draft than the modified format right now. 3/5

Life Herb... the 3 Potions and a Full Heal

Flip a coin...
This tells you right there that the card sucks if the effect is not extremely
awesome.
Removing 6 damage counters and all Special Conditions at first sounds nice.
But the more you tihnk about it, the worse it gets. First off, in this
environment of OHKOs, theres usually not much to heal. Second, all Special
Conditions can be healed by the very flexible card, Switch. Then, you need 2

Life Herbs to be pretty sure you can heal your Pokemon. The effect in itself

is quite situational, and the flip makes it not worth it.
Unlimited: 1.5/5
This card seems a tad useless in Unlimited, due to Slowking, Sneasel, and the
like.
Modified: 2/5
I don't think it'll see play in this environment at all.
Limited: 3/5
This is where this card is the best. With so many Special Conditions in Hidden
Legends, like the Paralysis moves that all basics seem to have and the
Double/Triple Poison, combined with the large number of fast, but non-OHKOing
attackers like Dodrio and Pinsir, this card could actually reverse your
situation from the jaws of defeat.
